Summit Chair

Whitehorn
Built 2020
A fixed-grip quad built in 2020 by Doppelmayr. Replaced the Summit Platter (T-bar, 1975–2020); which had fulfilled Sir Norman Watson’s dream of a lift to the top of Whitehorn. The platter was a technical challenge (balance, strength); the chair democratised access, increasing traffic on Boomerang while Upper Boomerang’s hike-to apex (formerly Hiker’s Paradise) remains protected by the boot pack.
Access to Back Bowls
The chair provides vertical to the ridge; skiers traverse Windy Gap, a narrow col often wind-scoured, to reach the Boomerang corridor and Upper Boomerang. Also serves Headwall, Men’s Downhill, Kernahan’s, Wrong Turn, and Steep & Flat on the Front Side. See Whitehorn Back Bowls for avalanche governance.
