Great Divide Lodge

Kicking Horse Pass

A lodge at the summit of Kicking Horse Pass in Yoho National Park, on the Continental Divide. The site marks the boundary between Pacific and Atlantic watersheds and offers views of surrounding peaks and Wapta Lake. Historically known as the West Louise Lodge.

History. The lodge sits on the original site of the CPR’s Wapta Lodge Bungalow Camp, which opened in 1921 to accommodate early railway tourists and motorists. Originally a rustic bungalow camp, it became the West Louise Lodge and was later renamed the Great Divide Lodge. Currently owned by the Lake Louise Ski Resort.

Setting. A popular stopping point near the Kicking Horse Pass National Historic Site and Hector Station. Parts of the site have undergone remediation for historical soil contamination.
