Bow Pass
Icefields Parkway
The highest point on the Icefields Parkway at 2,067 m, located between Bow Lake and Peyto Lake in Banff National Park. The pass crosses the Continental Divide where meltwater feeds the Bow River headwaters to the south and the Mistaya/Saskatchewan River system to the north.
The Peyto Lake viewpoint at Bow Summit offers one of the most iconic panoramas on the parkway; the turquoise lake in its wolf-head shape below. The pass is a high-avalanche-hazard zone in winter; Parks Canada frequently closes the section for artillery-based avalanche control.
