Hidden Lake
Lake Louise, Corral Creek
A small lake in the upper Corral Creek drainage near Lake Louise in Banff National Park. Hidden Lake was the site of a Parks Canada restoration project to recover native Westslope Cutthroat Trout.
The Hidden Lake Restoration Project involved using Rotenone, a naturally occurring fish toxicant, to remove invasive Brook Trout from the lake and upper Corral Creek. Pure Westslope Cutthroat Trout were then reintroduced via remote stream-side incubation techniques. The project demonstrates the feasibility of targeted restoration in high-elevation refugia within the upper Bow River basin.
