Sir Norman Watson

British baronet and aircraft manufacturer who acquired the Ski Club of the Canadian Rockies (SCCR) in 1947 and shaped the Lake Louise ski area. He dreamed of transplanting Swiss alpine culture; famously including “cows and all” (curtailed by park regulations); and gave the Brown Cow run its name. Watson operated Temple Lodge, Skoki Lodge, and the Post Hotel as an integrated network; he purchased Jim Boyce’s Lake Louise Ski Lodge (built 1942) and renamed it the Post Hotel (1957) after Swiss “Post Hotels.” In 1978 he sold the Post Hotel to André and George Schwarz. See Brown Cow for the cow experiment and the run’s name change from Brown Shirt.
