Friendly Giant
Lift
Front Side
Built 1989
A Yan detachable quad installed in 1989, named during Charlie Locke’s 1980s expansion era when it increased the mountain’s capacity. Served as the primary frontside access lift from base to mid-mountain, overlapping with older chairs like the Glacier Triple. One of Yan’s high-speed detachables (~1,000 ft/min), it boosted capacity during peak growth but faced grip issues; replacements occurred around 1995 following accidents at other Yan-equipped resorts. After the Whitehorn Gondola retired in 1998, it ran with borrowed CWA cabins as a pseudo-gondola for summer operations until ~2000. Decommissioned around 2004–2005, after the Glacier Express Leitner replacement in 2000.
