Larch Poma
Lift
Larch
Built 1954
One of the very first lifts at Lake Louise; a detachable Poma surface lift running from Temple Lodge up what is now the Larch pod. Larch Poma (Tripod Towers), built in 1954, was portable and detachable with tripods supporting the cable; it was moved in 1961 to behind the current Temple Lodge when the permanent lift was installed. Larch Poma (Fixed Tower B-100), built in 1961, replaced it with a permanent detachable Poma. The unload area was about 100 m below today’s Larch Express top, where Lookout, Larch, and Marmot meet. Replaced in the early 1970s by a Mueller double chair and again when the Larch Express (Leitner detachable quad) opened in 1998.
