E.R. 3

Double Black Diamond Back Bowls

One of the Eagle Ridge (ER 1–7) technical chutes on the backside, arguably the most famous. Primary venue for the Freeride World Qualifier and Big Mountain Challenge. Complex terrain: sustained steepness, technical chokes, iconic cliff drops including “Eagle Air.” Snow accumulates in deep pockets due to sheltering rock ribs. ER 3 was a permanent avalanche closure under Parks Service before the resort assumed avalanche operations in the mid-1990s. Accessed via the Paradise Chair and The Corridor traverse. See Eagle Ridge and Frontside Chutes.
