Lower Grouse

Blue Front Side

Intermediate run (Run #60) on the Front Side; the lower section of the Grouse corridor. Formerly “Lower Shoot the Muscle” or “Lower STM.” Morphological transition as the mountain flattens into mid-mountain benches; widens, gradient decreases. Primary collector for multiple upper routes, funneling traffic toward the base or lower lift stations. Classified “More Difficult” (Blue Square); staple of the grooming schedule; 50% man-made snow; providing “hero snow” for intermediate cruisers. Part of the Eagle patrol area. The “Grouse” namesake (Ruffed Grouse, Spruce Grouse) aligns with Parks Canada ecological awareness mandates. Veterans still call it “the STM.” Connects to Upper Grouse above.
