A spectacular "bench" trail that traverses high above the Valley of the Ten Peaks, offering constant views of the glaciers and peaks without the steep final climb of Sentinel Pass.

The Route Experience

The trail shares the first 2.4 km with Larch Valley before branching left at a well-marked junction. It follows a relatively level path along a rocky ridge.

  • The Lake: Eiffel Lake is a deep aquamarine color, often clearer than Moraine Lake because it is fed by snowmelt rather than heavy glacial silt.
  • Mount Fay: The massive Fay Glacier dominates the view across the valley.

Safety & Logistics

  • Exposure: The trail is quite exposed to the sun and wind. Bring sun protection and layers.
  • Bear Country: Like all Moraine Lake trails, this is prime Grizzly habitat. Groups of 4 are recommended.

Photography Tips

  • Ten Peaks Panorama: This trail offers the most consistent and unobstructed views of all ten peaks in the range.
  • Rock Formations: The trail passes through several interesting boulder fields that make for great foreground elements.
