Lake-surface and shoreline ski route when officially marked and maintained. Dog access is restricted; verify current rules.
A distinct opportunity to ski directly across the frozen surface of Lake Louise. This loop combines the flat lake surface with a slightly more technical return through the woods.
Tracksetting & Terrain
- Lake Surface: Usually single trackset. Flat and exposed to wind.
- Shoreline Trail: Narrower, often icy, and can be "poor" condition due to foot traffic.
Lake Ice & Winter Terrain
For lake-surface skiing, follow current Parks Canada guidance and lakeshore signage. Use the marked or trackset route when it is available, avoid the outflow area near the Chateau, and do not treat tracks near the cliffs at the back of the lake as avalanche clearance.
