Pipestone Loop

Closed Nov 24 – spring 2026 (fire management)

Trail closed

The flagship circuit of the Pipestone system. When it’s open, this is the “quiet forest” alternative to the busy lakeshore trails—gentle grades, long sightlines through the trees, and a true backcountry feel without the avalanche exposure.

Terrain & Flow

  • Character: Rolling, mellow climbs and descents with no sustained steep pitches.
  • Forest: Wide glades of lodgepole pine and spruce; sheltered on windy days.
  • Navigation: Signed junctions; the loop format makes it easy to tailor your distance.

When Open

This trail is often a locals’ favorite for longer, uninterrupted classic skiing. If you’re craving a quiet, steady workout away from the lake crowds, this is the one.

Notes

The entire Pipestone network is closed for the 2025/2026 winter season due to forest restoration work. Check back next winter for reopening updates.

The Pipestone trail system (including Drummond, Hector, and Merlin) is CLOSED for the 2025/2026 winter season due to active fire management and forest restoration projects. Please respect all signage and do not enter the area.
